Over 18s
Over 18s have full freedom and full responsibility to look after themselves but any home rules need to be made clear.
What to do if your adult student is missing
If an adult student does not return to their accommodation, hasn't let you know that they plan to stay elsewhere, or you have concerns over their welfare, please call the school's emergency number if you are unable to contact them.
Under 18s
We have strict curfew times that students are expected to observe. These arrangements may vary, if a group leader wishes to introduce a stricter curfew we will communicate this to you on their first day.
16—17 years old - home by 22:00
14—15 years old - home by 21:00
Under 14 years old - not going out unless there is an activity organised by the school, where they are supervised by adults.
Exceptions may be made for students with special parental permission, a copy of which will be sent to you for confirmation. We reserve the right to overrule parental permission and remove the privilege if we think a student is not responsible enough.
If your student is repeatedly late, please inform us straightaway.
What to do if your student is late back (under-18s)
It is important that you take action if your student doesn't arrive back at the time you have agreed:
If you are able to contact them, confirm:
they are okay / they understand that they were expected back / has something happened to make them late
where they are now and how they are returning
when they will be back.
If you are unable to contact the student then call the school's emergency contact number when they are more than 15 minutes late.
If the student did not arrive by their curfew time then email Welfare (welfare@languagesunited.co.uk) to inform us that they were late home and provide the reason the student gave for lateness (e.g. missed bus). The school will advise next actions.
